Two men holding machetes threatened staff and robbed a shop in Chadderton, Oldham. Around 9.25pm on Thursday 23 October 2014, two men walked into the Coop store on Middleton Road, Chadderton. One of them stayed by the entrance while the other walked behind the till and demanded money. They then took the cash and got into a silver Corsa, parked outside the store, before driving off. The men are described as wearing dark clothing and holding machetes. Detective Sergeant Darren Grafton said: “After investigation, we now know the silver Corsa was stolen in a burglary, from the Tower Street area of Heywood in Rochdale on Thursday between 10am and 4pm. “Approximately an hour before it was used in the robbery, it was seen in the Chadderton area, close to the Coop. “The Corsa was then used as the getaway car following the robbery before it was found abandoned on Argyle Street, Heywood this morning. “I would ask anyone who may have any information relating to the original theft of the vehicle, later sightings in Chadderton or committing the robbery, to contact us as soon as possible. I would also ask people to come forward who may have seen the car being abandoned on Argyle Street, Rochdale earlier this morning.” Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 9080 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
