Two more days before we switch sides. Todays two story proposals are on basically opposite ends of the spectrum. One is firmly rooted in technology and science fiction and features two A-List characters. The other is shrouded in darkness and mysticism, and features two relatively obscure characters that people should know about and have a chance to enjoy (or fear). Iron Man vs. Brainiac For me, the major problem with Iron Man comics is that Tony Stark is so ridiculously overpowered and there are very few villains who can pose a believable threat to him. So who better to put him against than a villain who routinely gets the upper hand on Superman? Both of these characters are men of science, with Brainiac being completely taken over the technology to the point where he is basically a living computer. Pitting these two against each other puts a focus on Tonys humanity, and will force him to be clever as well as truly resilient to defeat Brainiac. Dr. Strange vs. Anton Arcane Even with all of the evil that Dr. Strange has kept at bay, I feel safe in saying the Sorcerer Supreme has never faced an entity quite as evil as Anton Arcane. But then, thats because I view Anton as the most evil, most irredeemable, most downright sick character in all of comics. The Lord of the Rot and nemesis of Swamp Thing, Anton Arcane has complete control over death. He revels in killing as well as sadistic mental torture, and would provide more than a threat to Dr. Strange. Both of these characters are under-appreciated by comic book fans but I think pitting them against each other would a story for the ages.
