Two mourning doves visited my outside deck with their little one, obviously a set of parents with a young chick. The parents arrived, they have come before many times, before the little one. They clustered around my statue of St Francis which really moved me. Now the parents have taken off, and the little one, who has been preening itself and seems fine, is by itself. I believe that their nest is on the deck right below mine, as my neighbor has talked about her mourning doves too. What do you think, people, may be going on, do you think the little one is in trouble, or do you think the parents are teaching it to fly? It is sitting outside on the plant stand next to St Francis right now...does anyone know about mourning dove habits?
