Two simple reflections this time. First is that John uses night - TopicsExpress

Two simple reflections this time. First is that John uses night and day in the opposite way to Shakespeare. For John the night is a time of doubt and wavering faith. Day is a time of clarity. In Romeo and Juliet is the other way round. Night is the time when things are good... Lord help us be people of the light, people of strong faith. Second is from chapter 4, one of my fave stories, John really presents is with a very playful dynamic Jesus. The key part for me though is that Jesus meets her from a position of weakness and need. Daniel Niles, a Sri Lankan theologian said Jesus was a true servant because He was at the mercy of those who He came to serve. I am challenged to need other people and not be so independent. Its like when Jesus sends out the 72, they are sent out without anything and so are sent out in need of others. If I am honest, this scares me, I dont want to have to need others, and yet I know deeply that I already do. God bless all of you who help me.
