Two thumbs up to Seagate Enterprises. My back-up external hard - TopicsExpress

Two thumbs up to Seagate Enterprises. My back-up external hard drive was purchase from Best Buy over two years ago. It was my backup to everything. The port on the motherboard, a soldered connection came off. I needed the information on my backup but no way to access it. I contacted Seagate’s data recovery and got a 300-3000 dollar estimate to recover the data. After a deep breath I went ahead with the process. Part of it was to explain the reason the data was not available. They transferred me to another department. After explaining to them again the circumstances they said let them look at it and if this was all that was wrong they would take care of the problem. I was skeptical but figured I had already committed to possible thousands to recover the info. Within 5 minutes of the call I had shipping labels, sent via email. I went to UPS store and they took the drive and packed it and shipped it – no cost. Throughout the process I was emailed letting me know the status of the recovery. I received a new external hard drive with all of my data yesterday. They have the data and will retain it for 14 day after receipt of the new drive. All of this at no cost to me, no warranty forms filed, and for a piece of equipment that was two years old. The best part of all of this – voluntary by the company to fix an item that had their name on it.
