The HAN BioCentre is offering 2 positions for research technician in combination with the part-time Masters programme in Molecular Life Sciences. This is a unique opportunity for bachelor graduates to gain valuable work experience while studying for their Masters degree. What we offer you We are offering 2 positions to ambitious bachelor graduates for a 2-year position at the HAN BioCentre. At the end of the 2 years you will have a Masters degree and extensive work experience! This broad, up-to-date and hands-on traineeship will open doors to a career in the pharma and biotech industry, or in other research institutions dealing with applied research and product development. Continuation with a PhD is an option as well. You will be involved in various projects at the HAN BioCentre, covering molecular biology, cell biology and fermentation tech-nology. The HAN BioCentre is a dynamic environment that brings you into contact with different companies and research organizations in the field. We are offering you the opportunity to develop from a starting technician into a scientist with a high level of responsibility for the on-going research projects. You will become the linking pin between technicians and senior project leaders! The Masters programme teaches you the skills needed to fulfil this role. In line with the focus of the HAN BioCentre, the Masters programme focuses on applied research and product development in the field of Biodiscovery, such as biomolecule production, vaccines, diagnostics and drug discovery and development. During the programme, you learn to independently guide research projects, both from a scientific and a project management point of view. You will be practicing and using your newly acquired skills directly in your projects at the HAN BioCentre. Molecular Life Sciences at HAN is one of the most highly rated Masters programmes in the Netherlands (Keuzegids Masters 2013 and 2014). What we expect of you You are highly motivated to further develop your career. During your undergraduate studies, you have demonstrated your motivation and skills by gaining high grades for both exams and practicals. You are ready to work hard to combine study and work. During your internship and graduation project, you have demonstrated high independence and interest in the overall aims and activities of your project and the whole organization. Having participated in a minor at the HAN BioCentre (fermentation (DAPB) or C. elegans) is an advantage. During the course of your traineeship at the HAN BioCentre and your studies in the Masters programme, we expect you to take increasingly more responsibility for managing your projects and communicating with internal and external partners. Practical and financial information The position at the HAN BioCentre is offered for 4 days a week (0.8 FTE) for a duration of 2 years from September 2014 (preferably earlier). Your net income will be about €1,200 per month. The 2-year Masters programme is part-time, with an average study load of 20 hours per week. The tuition fee for the Masters programme is €14,400 in total, which amounts to about €600 per month. You can get about 1/4 to 1/3 of the tuition fee (€150-200 per month) back from your tax, resulting in an overall net income of €800 per month during the 2-year period.
