Two weeks ago I went into Murray County Animal Control and noticed a red pit in the large dog kennel. He was small, 49 pounds, compared to the other dogs in the kennel. I was with a friend in Animal Rescue from Atlanta and the dog came to the front of the kennel and with his eyes and body language explained that his life had been rough. My friend also got his message. He was a young dog. I left and couldnt sleep for worrying about the guy. I contacted animal control employees that night and told them I wanted him. His story is bad, yall. He has been treated like crap his entire life.. Bottom line, yesterday, when it was legally possible, I adopted him. I took him straight to the neuter clinic. Last night I walked him and reached to pet him. He dodged my hand so extremely that he ended up in the crawl position with his head between his legs. I cried, it just breaks my heart to think about how he has lived. I laid on the ground beside him for awhile and hugged him close. He immediately forgave my intended attack as he saw it. I contacted a pit bull rescuer in Atlanta and have received advise on how to proceed with him. He apparently does not like cats and that has to change at my house. Every creature here is required to love every other creature. I have to help him regain the spark he must have had as a puppy before he was treated like a punching bag The people at the spay clinic see many pits daily and tell me he is a special boy. He received a free nail trim, ear cleaning and a couple of treats for later as they had all fallen in love during the 8 hours he was there. Pictures will be forth coming. He will be up for adoption as soon as I convince him he has a life to live. His name is Rusty and he is a beautiful Red Nose Pit.
