Typhoon Florita enters PAR ABS-CBNnews MANILA, Philippines – State weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring Typhoon Florita (international name: Neoguri) which was last spotted 1,080 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City. Florita has maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 200 kilometers per hour. It is moving west-northwest at 24 kilometers per hour. PAGASA weather forecast Glaiza Escullar told radio DZMM that Florita entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 11 p.m. Saturday. The typhoon is too far to directly affect the country, but it is enhancing the southwest monsoon. Those in the Bicol Region, MiMaRoPa, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and the Visayas should thus expect light to moderate rains, while the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila, will also experience occasional showers. PAGASA said Typhoon Florita is expected to linger in the Philippine Area of Responsibility until Wednesday, July 9. -- Reports from ANC and DZMM.
