Typhoon Paeng to bring rains over E. Visayas, Mindanao until Tuesday MANILA, Nov. 3 (PNA) -- Expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers over parts of Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours due to the trough or extended cloudines of Typhoon Paeng, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday. In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Denison Estareja said that although Typhoon Paeng is still far, it will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Mindanao until Tuesday because of the trough of the typhoon. Estareja said that no storm warning signal has been raised in any part of the country and typhoon Paeng is also not expected to make landfall. As of 4: p.m., he said the eye of Typhoon Paeng was located based on all available data at 1,210 km east of Aparri, Cagayan (19.3°N, 133.1°E), packed with maximum sustained winds of 205 kph near the center and gustiness of 240 kph. He also said the typhoon is forecast to move northeast and accelerate from 13 kph to 15 kph. Maintaining its speed and direction, he noted the typhoon Paeng will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday evening headed towards east of Japan. He added that once the typhoon leaves the country, the weather bureau has not seen any weather disturbance that will enter the PAR in the next three days. Estareja added the presence of the northeast monsoon or hanging amihan will induce light rains over Northern Luzon particularly in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos Region. He added the rest of the country including Metro Manila will continue to be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. The weather bureau also issued a gale warning as winds associated with the surge of the northeasterly windflow enhanced by Typhoon Paeng will bring strong to gale force winds expected to affect the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas. Fisherfolks and those using small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards, PAGASA warned. In its 5 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. It added light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and of Visayas and from the west to southwest over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas.
