U.K. Dealers Get Lithium Iron Batteries MAG Europe is pleased to announce an exclusive UK distribution deal with Shorai Power, the leading Lithium Iron battery brand in the power sports industry. Based in the United States, Shorai has been heading the Lithium technology charge since 2010, providing the benefits of lighter weight, higher cranking power and greater battery efficiency. Now these batteries are being made available to the U.K. market for the first time. “Shorai LFX batteries are a great fit to our existing range of products,” says MAG Europe’s Sales & Marketing Manager Den Lane. “The technological advances and lighter weight will help with our expansion into the sport bike and power sports markets as well.” With more than a decade of distribution expertise, MAG Europe has primarily focused on the V-Twin side of the business and Lane sees Shorai as the spark to reach even more dealers moving forward. MAG Europe currently serves more than 450 dealerships in the U.K, with a rapidly expanding network across all segments. “We have been supplying industry leading brands through the UK dealer network since 2003,” he says. “Having Shorai should really help expand the scope of our operation.” With an 80% reduction in weight compared to standard lead-acid batteries, Lane believes in the advantages offered by Shorai’s prismatic cell lithium iron phosphate technology. “Typically we see a savings of 2-3 pounds for dirt bikes, 6-8 pounds for the average street bike and 10-20 pounds for a Harley touring bike or other heavy weight V-Twin cruiser. This alone is reason enough to consider switching to Shorai LFX batteries.” Shaving weight did not come at the expense of performance, however. Shorai batteries operate at a higher voltage range during cranking, resulting in quicker starting. However from a dealer’s perspective, the fact Shorai’s LFX batteries do not sulfate while sitting on the shelves or in vehicles may be even more appealing. “They do not suffer the chemical degradation that plagues conventional lead-acid batteries, so they last longer. “They weigh less, start quicker and last longer than conventional batteries,” concludes Lane. “What’s not to like?” Contact MAG Europe for more details.
