U.S. Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, announced that he found it “fascinating” that some of the opposition to the Common Core State Standards has come from “white suburban moms who -- all of a sudden -- their child isnt as brilliant as they thought they were. First of all, race is completely irrelevant, and a weak, ignorant argument for the validity of common core! Can we PLEASE leave race out of this (and everything else)!!?!?Secondly, it is not a question of brilliance! All people are brilliant at something! Some are brilliant care givers, brilliant chefs, brilliant hunters, brilliant writers, brilliant chemists, brilliant artists/musicians, brilliant engineers... A method of testing is not necessarily an indicator of brilliance! If my children grow up to be homemakers/artists/survivalists... instead of oncologists/mathematicians/presidents and they are happy while doing it, and brilliant at it, then I will be a satisfied, proud momma! My job is to give my babies every tool that I can possibly give them to insure that they are brilliant at whatever God put them here to do!! The problem with common core is that it is based on lies and deceit and that it is distributed and championed by a for profit monopoly, and their conspirators in government. Children, and their futures are nowhere in the common core equation! Children deserve to freely learn, they deserve independent thought, they deserve to be brilliant at what God put them here for without shame and the pressure of endless tests that can only be completed 1 way, and prove NOTHING, with the exception of being able to regurgitate requested information! We are not robots!!! Memorizing endless facts for the sole purpose of taking tests IS NOT AN EDUCATION!!!! This is ridiculous, and this white, suburban mom is not afraid to call these people GREEDY, SELFISH, CAVILER, RECKLESS... and to say that this program is NOT welcome in my childrens lives!!!!
