U.S. Embassy-Dhaka Yesterday, new insect-resistan t eggplant (Bt brinjal) seedlings were distributed to a group of 20 farmers at an event held at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council. USAID has supported the development of Bt brinjal through the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Program Phase II, led by Cornell University and partnership with Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute. The insect-resistan t Bt brinjal can increase yields and profits for farmers while preventing contamination from harmful chemical pesticides and providing hygienic and nutritious vegetables!
