Community Liaison Officer Coordinator (CLO) Vacancy Announcement No. 2013-11 Position: FSN-7: FP-7 Opening Date: Immediately Closing Date: August 7th, 2013 at 17:00 BASIC FUNCTIONS The Community Liaison Office Coordinator (CLO) develops and manages a comprehensive post program to maintain high morale. The CLO identifies the needs of the post community and responds with effective programming, information and resources, and referrals. Serving as the community advocate for US Direct Hire employees and family members, the CLO advises post management on quality of life issues, recommends solutions, and advocates effectively to promote family friendly post policies. The duties of the CLO are defined in eight areas of responsibility: Employment liaison: Advises on employment opportunities both inside and outside of the mission. Crisis management and security liaison: Serves as a counselor and advocate at post on security concerns from the Embassy community.Education liaison: Assist family members in enrolling their children in school. Advises incoming officers on education options at post. Information and resource management: Prepares and disseminates the Embassy Community Newsletter. Guidance and referral: Provides advice referrals based on knowledge of the community. Welcoming and orientation: Reaches out to newly assigned officers. Answers questions from officers and family members preparing to come to post. Administers post’s orientation program and sets up sponsors for all incoming American officers. Community liaison: Investigates opportunities and activities in the community and passes the information along to embassy staff. Event planning: Plans events including welcome and farewell dinners, community trips outside of Bujumbura, and other events. REQUIRED QUALFICATIONS: Education - Minimum High School degree required.Experience – Minimum of 3 years experience working in a field involving problem solving for a diverse, complex customer or client population, including advocacy on behalf of others, effectively working with officials at all levels of an organization; as well as interpreting, adapting and applying regulatory or procedural materials. Language - Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION 1.
