U.S. to ease diplomatic relations with Cuba. Airline, Cruise line, and some automotive stocks up on the news. So, clearly Wall Street likes the idea. What about Main Street? If we lift the embargo with Cuba we do two things for sure 1. Take away any excuses Cubas totalitarian government had as to how the U.S. is responsible for their piss poor economy. 2. Essentially lock the Castro family into their position forever. I mean if 40 plus years of the embargo didnt create any real leverage for us, then lifting the embargo definitely guarantees that Cuba went from having their guy on his death bed and his successor promising to step down in 2018 to both guys pretty much free to tell the people of Cuba nana nana boo boo, stick your head in doo doo ( Tosh.O reference ),were not going anywhere! . Interesting historic event. Not sure exactly what to think at this point but at the very least this could create US business opportunities there. Do the math. 11 million people on an island that all want/need and can now have internet, electronic devices, automobiles, food. Shit, Ford, GM, even Tesla can collectively sell five million cars right out of the gate. Thumbs up for democracy and capitalism. Lets hope this goes smoothly.
