U20 stopper continues family tradition Vodafone Fiji U20 goalkeeper Misiwani Nairube hopes to follow in the footsteps of his uncles and two former national greats. The 18-year-old Kamil Muslim College student is the nephew of former national, Rewa, Ba, Lautoka and Navua goalkeeper Isikeli Seva and is also distantly related to former Ba, Lautoka and national stopper Iosefo Vosaboto. Nairube is one of the two goalkeepers in the final squad and the Nailaga native from Ba is keen to prove his worth in the national colours. “I want to help my team win the championship and qualify for the World Cup. The coaches have been working very hard and we just need to give our best on the field and make our country proud.” “I want to play like my uncle Seva as well as my mentor and idol Vosaboto who has been very helpful and encouraging. He is coaching both the goalkeepers in the squad and we have learned a lot from him.” Nairube was also named in Ba’s OFC Champions League final squad and was the Men In Black’s third choice goalkeeper. Fiji opens its campaign in the OFC U20 Championship against American Samoa at 2.30pm on Friday. Source : FijiLive
