UAE ready to help Namibia search for oil – Minister United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed al Mansoori says his government is ready to assist Namibia with locating its underground oil reservoirs, state radio reported here Tuesday. Namibia Broadcasting Corporation’s National Radio quoted the UAE official as assuring visiting Namibian Trade and Industry Minister Calle Schlettwein that the Gulf state would assist the southern African country to discover oil. “Mark my words, oil can be found in Namibia, and we are competitive enough to assist Namibia to discover its own underground oil reservoirs. We have so much interest in that industry,” Al Mansoori is quoted as saying. Although he did not explain in detail how his country could assist Namibia, Al Mansoori noted that if oil was found in Angola, “then it can also be found in Namibia because the two countries’ geographical landscapes are similar”. The two ministers also discussed business opportunities in the aviation and tourism industries. Al Mansoori suggested that Schlettwein talks to Air Namibia about initiating direct flight from Namibia’s Hosea Kutako International Airport to Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Schlettwein and his delegation, which comprises specialists from his ministry and Offshore Development Company as well as the Namibia Trade Forum, are attending the three-day Global Trade Development Summit that got underway in Dubai on Monday. The summit is being attended by than 600 government and business leaders from more than 90 countries. naija247news
