UB SUPPORTS AYG The University of Botswana has availed part of its main campus to the Botswana African Youth Games Organising Committee (BAYGOC) for the purpose of hosting the 2nd African Youth Games under the banner Gaborone 2014. These international games, to be held on May 22 – May 31, 2014, will involve over 4000 foreign visitors, composed of at least 2500 athletes and 1500 officials expected here from May 16 to June 2, 2014. Apart from the provision of sporting facilities, the University will provide most of these visitors with accomodation, and other live-in amenities during the course of the games. To ensure their safety and the smooth running of the games, a restricted athletes village will be set-up within the campus just across from the National Stadium, housing their offices, accomodation and living quarters (Blocks 139, 252, 476 – 9), and accessible by way of special accrediation cards.
