UDOM MAY RESIGN ON FRIDAY AS PRESSURE MOUNTS ON HIM TO RUN Barely a week to the expiration of the date given to political appointees and public officers interested in running for elective offices in 2015 by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pressure is being mounted on Akwa Ibom State Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Udom Emmanuel to succeed Governor Godswill Akpabio.Over 150 political groups and associations spread across three senatorial districts are mounting pressure on the former Zenith Bank Executive Director to contest the governorship election in 2015. Sources close to the camp of the SSG told Daily Sun that the SSG might listen to the call and resign to take up the challenge this Friday. Notable groups that have thrown their weight behind the yet to be declared ambition include, Itai Afe Annang, Ati Annang, Afigh Iwaad Ekid and several youth groups. Meanwhile, the people of Ekid nation it was learnt have hosted a political rally to drum support for Mr. Emmanuel’s governorship aspiration. In a release signed by the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Council, Aniekan Akpan, the event at the Eket Township Stadium had in attendance the traditional institution, present and past political office holders, the political class, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), organised labour, women groups, youth organisations, political associations and people of Akwa Ibom State.
