UKIPs Permanent Protest: Partys Support Steady Despite Negative Media Predictions Recent polling has revealed that British voters intend to stick with UKIP after switching their allegiances between 2010 and the European Elections earlier this year. The Political Betting website notes that between May 12th and June 23rd this year, Lord Ashcroft polls have shown no slip in the number of people who say they will vote UKIP in Britains General Election next year. Journalists and political analysts, especially those hostile to UKIP, called the European Elections a flash in the pan and a protest vote. Many expected UKIP voters from May to switch their allegiances back to one of the other three major British political parties following the election results, but it simply hasnt happened. When Breitbart London spoke to UKIP leader Nigel Farage about the issue last month, he replied: High tide mark? Ive heard it all before. I was told in 2009 when we came second in the European elections it was a protest vote and wed never repeat it. And then last year in the English county elections we got nearly a quarter of the vote and that was a protest. And we almost won the Eastleigh by-election, and that was a protest. And now were going to top a national poll, something that a so-called insurgent party has never done in British history – and thats a protest! All I would say is this: it is beginning to resemble a permanent protest. Political Betting notes: A very large number of people predicted after the May 22nd elections that as we got closer to next May’s general election then UKIP’s totals would start to fade away. Well it is now a month after we were digesting those results and the picture is pretty much the same. The evidence from the Ashcroft weekly phone poll is that it is staying solid as can be seen in the chart... Maybe things will start to get back to “normal” after the Scottish referendum and the party conferences. Maybe. breitbart/Breitbart-London/2014/06/25/Polls-Show-UKIP-Vote-Solid
