They gathered to express their support for Euro-integration, the same objective that President Yanukovych himself had repeatedly trumpeted as his unshakeable goal. He had assured that the government would act in a manner consistent with European and international principles of individual human rights including the freedom of speech and assembly. However, actions speak louder than words! President Yanukovych’s recent unlawful actions on Kyiv’s Euro-Maidan belie his words and underscore his subservience to the dictates of Russia, Ukraine’s ago-old persecutor. Yet again, he has shown himself to be in the company of janissaries that have condemned Ukrainians to live, as Taras Shevchenko lamented, on their nativе, yet not their own land. We call upon the Ukrainian legal community -- especially the judiciary – tо stand straight and reaffirm their allegiance to the Ukrainian nation and the principle of the rule of law and justice. We call on you to be the guardian of оur Ukrainе’s right to freedom. Асоціація Українських Правників Америки (UABA) непохитно засуджує брутальнe та нещаднe застосування сили президентом В. Януковичом нa задушеня прав українських громадян мирно зходитися то висловлюватися. Вони мирно зібралися , щоб виявити свою підтримку євроінтеграції України, та ж саме що й сам президент Янукович безкінцево гучно повторював була і його незмінна ціль. Він запевнював що уряд діятиме згідно європейських та міжнародних принципів прав людини включаючи свободу слова і зібрань. Але ж дія голосніша слова! Останні позазаконні дії Президента України на Євро-Майдані спростовують його слова і свідчать про його підданість домінуючого диктату росії, вікова гнобителька України. Знову ж таки, він вийявив свою приналежність до товариства яничарів, які засудили українців, як писав Шевченко, жити на рідній але не на своїй землі. Ми закликаємо українськy юридичну, правничу та адвокатцьку громаду - особливо суддів – стати прямо та підтвердити свою вірність українському народу та принципам верховенства права та справедливості. Ми закликаємо вас бути охороною права нашої Yкраїни на свободу.
