UMPP is looking for interpreters for the 2013-2014 partnerships: Alumni from Rivne, Lviv and Kharkiv are welcome to apply! IREX announces an opening for the short-term positions of field interpreters for IREX Ukraine Media Partnership Program (UMPP). DEADLINE for applications is October 30! The Ukraine Media Partnership Program, launched in 2002 and funded by the Public Affairs Section, US Embassy in Ukraine, creates and fosters long-term relationships between selected American media outlets and Ukrainian media outlets of similar size and between the individual professionals that work at both outlets under UMPP program. This year four selected media outlets in Ukraine will establish partnerships with the US media outlets. Each Ukrainian Media outlet will host two delegations from US. Six employees from each of the Ukrainian outlets will travel to the US to take part in the internship. In order to facilitate the project in Ukraine - we need to select local interpreters who will assist in US visits in the following cities – Rivne, Lviv and Kharkiv. IREX selects active alumni to take part in the project, trains alumni in media terminology and recruits two interpreters for each media outlet. The project runs from October 2013 till August 2014. Before applying please consider your commitment and availability for the following work schedule and travel: - First visit of the American partners to Ukraine (one week) – to one of the respective cities (Lviv/Kharkiv/Rivne). - First visit of Ukrainian partners to the United States (11 days with Pre-Departure Orientation in Kyiv), Assessment report in English upon return. - Second visit of the American partners to Ukraine (one week) – to one of the respective cities (Lviv/Kharkiv/Rivne). - Second visit of Ukrainian partners to the United States (11 days with Pre-Departure Orientation in Kyiv), Assessment report in English upon return. UMPP offers: * Professional media terminology training * International logistics skills training * Opportunity to interpret during Ukraine-based training on media management, marketing, media brand promotion, journalism (twice a year / one week each) * Honorarium for interpretation * Trip to US with interns from Ukraine (10 days in US / twice a year).
