Terms of Reference Background: The Programme Unit in WFP Sudan Country Office is responsible to support Area Offices and Sub Offices in all the aspects related to food assistance programme design and for technical advice about appropriate monitoring and evaluation of the implemented activities. Reporting line and duties: Under the general supervision of the Head of Monitoring & Evaluation Unit of ODS Office, Khartoum, and the direct supervision of the M&E Data & Information Manager, the Data Analyst will be responsible for the following duties: Manage the data bases used to store M&E data collected at field level. Edit the design of data entry masks to enter information related to additional monitoring activities/modalities. Perform statistical analysis on M&E data collected at field level. Provide technical support to sub-offices on all related M&E activities. Participate in preparing Sudan level Quarterly Monitoring Reports with input from AOs/SOs. Provide input focusing on M&E results for the preparation of the Standard Project Report (SPR). Provide input on M&E for donor reports and other ad-hoc requests as needed Expected Results: Efficient management of M&E information and data using corporate and Country Office specific tools. Management of data entry applications. Support field offices for data analysis and results presentation. Well organized, complete and accurate reports, records and/or data, put together independently with only general guidance. Critical Success Factors: Sound judgment; ability to extract, interpret, analyse and format data. Ability to work with minimum of supervision; to supervise and train support staff; and to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Ability to work with accuracy under time constraints and pressure; to deal patiently and tactfully with staff members and others and to have a high sense of initiative and good judgment. Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks at the same time. MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS Education: Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in statistics, social studies, information management, or other related field. Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience, of which at least one year closely related to data analysis. At least one year at the G5 level or equivalent. Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in managing and analysing data in the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) or other statistical software packages; designing and managing ACCESS databases, including building of Report Forms; managing and analysing data in EXCEL; and using WORD or other word processing software. Language: Excellent knowledge in both oral and written English, and fluency in oral and written Arabic.
