UN authorizes EU troops in Central African Republic Jan 29 2014 The UN Security Council has authorized the deployment of a European Union force to the Central African Republic. The head of the EU delegation to the UN said the EU troops would be on the ground in the CAR within weeks but did not provide a specific timeframe. Meanwhile, French Ambassador to the UN Gerand Araud said the EU troops will be deployed to protect the airport in the capital, Bangui. France has already deployed 16-hundred troops to its former colony under the pretext of bringing peace to the country. On Monday, the UN warned about the rise in attacks against Muslims by Christian militias.
