UN resolutions basis for Kashmir solution: Pak Aziz says LoC situation deteriorating AGENCIES SmallerDefaultLarger Islamabad, Oct 13: Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday said the United Nations resolutions must form the basis for any solution for Kashmir and the people of Kashmir be made part of it. The Prime Minister was talking to US Senators Tim Kaine, Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Angus King, Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, who called on him here at the PM House. He asked the UN to honor its own resolutions on this matter. Talking about Pakistan-India ties the Prime Minister said both the countries can only gain through dialogue. He expressed his disappointment on the cancellation of Foreign Secretary level talks. The Prime Minister said the only acceptable solution of Kashmir will be the one which is endorsed by all parties including Pakistan, India and Kashmiris. Meanwhile, Adviser to the Pakistan Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz conveyed to US senators Pakistan’s concern over the security situation at the Line of Control, according to a foreign ministry statement. Aziz reiterated Pakistan’s approach of seeking peace in the neighbourhood as border clashes, one of the worst since the two neighbours agreed to a landmark ceasefire deal in 2003, resumed once again following a lull after days of heavy firing and mortar shelling. Earlier, Aziz said that officials from UNMOGIP, a UN observation team, were going to the disputed border to observe the ceasefire violations. During the meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appreciated US cooperation for Bhasha and Dasu dams. He added that the economy of Pakistan is improving gradually. The Pakistan premier told the US delegates that trade will be a priority in the Pak-US strategic dialogue. He said that Pakistan seeks access to US markets for its goods.
