UNDER 14’4s Defeated Valentine 22-4. Top of the ladder team Valentine came to Bennett Park to meet Dungog for the first time this season. Things didnt go well for them. Dungog fielded a full strength team including five U/13 players giving us three interchange players on the bench. A great way to go up against the top team. Valentine has a large forward pack which has been used to dominating other sides. This challenge was met by our blokes early in the game with strong tackles being made across the park by the Dungog players leaving the Valentine team stunned. Hard hits by Tom Hudson , Mitchell Grey , Jake Eyb , Jackson Dew and Cameron McLean not only stopped line breaks up the middle but also forced errors giving us vital possession in attacking field position. It was not long before Cameron McLean scored out wide after chasing down a Gus Lawrence kick. Before half time Cameron was over again next to the posts this time after one of his many successful scoots from dummy half. Dungog went into the second half with a good lead and positive attitude. It was amazing to see the difference a full interchange bench makes. Valentine scored early in the second half and looked like being a threat but this only seemed to motivate our blokes. Dungog started to throw the ball around making many breaks while maintaining strong defense. Wyll Darr made the most of his opportunities scoring twice after making breaks on the edge of the ruck displaying a great natural talent. Dungog closed out the game offering Valentine few opportunities. Try scorers this game were Cameron McLean 2, Wyll Darr 2. Conversions Tom Hudson 2, Mitchell Grey 1. U/13 players Jack Fisher, Wyll Darr, Jack Walters, Alex Rooke and Broc Hunt who made themselves available for today’s game contributed to the great result showing the club spirit evident at Dungog. Thankyou boys
