UNDER THE SKIN...... Like mar mite, youre either going to love it or hate it. This is simply a story about an alien who has to lure and kill men in order to survive, enter Scarlett Johansson who is an alien who lures and seduces men into her home and then they disappear into a alien pool where there tissue is consumed. If youre expecting state of the art effects then youre very much going to be disappointed, her home is in pure blackness and most of the shots are kept very low budget making it more of a interactive travel brochure for Scotland. Some of Jonathan Glazers (Director) shots are to long focusing on one point in time for far to long that you start to wonder if youve paused the movie. So whats right about this move, simply put Scarlett Johansson is wonderful, theirs a certain menace to her silent killer approach in the first part of the film however that all changes when she starts to have feelings of guilt and from then on its looking at things from a childs point of view discovering things for the first time. For example her trying out cake is very well done. In a move that is practically silent then the lead has to grab your attention and Scarlett uses all her facial expressions to convey what is happening. Its not going to be for everyone but i urge you to give this one a go. 3/5
