I myself have about two weeks left before I too have to move out as I can no longer afford my NRAS accommodation, Like I have said to my MPs and The Housing Minister, I feel I am resourceful and if I cannot find affordable accommodation how does one expect people too. Many are living in survival mode this takes a toll on ones health I am at a dangerous level with my weight due to stress. At the beginning I was Studying, working casual to help with the bills. One semester away from completing my Diploma and this too is out of reach. These are the facts you do not hear from Mainstream or our Services as they are Gagged. What I have been working on with a dedicated team of Sole Parents is a place where people can come and have trauma informed services to peel back the layers. Empowerment groups to raise people up, looking at their strengths to assist them in returning to work focusing on their capabilities which are many. Treating people as an Individual, holding forums to educate the needs within our communities to rebuild the bridge so we can come together as one. And no I will not seek government funding. Dont get me wrong there are many that abuse the system my ex is one of them. So again accountability RiSE QLD is about helping people who want to help themselves. All we ask is for the resources from our State and Federal members to address peoples Basic needs. Housing Affordability, Skills training. The creation of more jobs even transport is now an issue, cost of fuel etc... No longer can we judge what we do not know without looking at the resources available to them. I have a friend her child needs help again the system is failing... Tomorrow we will ring the Health Minister to ty and get this child the help she needs.
