UNIFORMED ST MAARTEN POLICE VS. UNDERCOVER ST MAARTEN POLICE latest controversy in dutch sint maarten police dept A retired police told me to post this story yesterday, but ya know island times were down :) this story is the controversy right now in the st maarten police dept. PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - There is seemingly some division within the police force of St. Maarten after an attempt was made to arrest an undercover officer this week. According to our sources, the undercover officer who will not be named in this story, was seated in a tinted vehicle when he encountered the patrol officer. We have learnt the the undercover officer was ordered out of his vehicle and a request made to remove the tint from his car. There was an exchange which resulted in an attempt being made to handcuff the undercover officer on the scene. We have learnt that the patrol officer known as “Naap” was informed of the undercover status of the officer and that the vehicle which he was driving was also government issued however this did not stop the patrol officer from trying to execute his arrest. The attempted arrest resulted in the down-street area being being blocked off by police who responded to the incident. it is not clear what happened after but our sources told us that this incident is not being taken lightly by some members of the police force. No official information on the incident has been released by the police force. This is also not the first time that the patrol officer in question has managed to find himself in uncomfortable quarters.
