(UNVERIFIED E-MAIL) Media release. 12 November 2013 Doing business easier with Citys new online e-Tshwane service Waiting in long queues, finding parking or worrying about office hours to pay for municipal bills will soon be a thing of the past in Tshwane. The City today formally launched e-Tshwane Service, a free online service that allows home owners, companies, property managing agents and tenants to view, download and make payments for all municipal accounts electronically from anywhere, at any time. Subsequent phases will allow residents to apply for services online, check application status with a click of a button. e-Tshwane Service provides a full history of accounts from registration, payments made as well as the ability to interact with the City in the form of lodging complaints, queries and compliments electronically 24 hours a day. Customers must register on tshwane .gov.za to use the service. Users of the e-Tshwane service will receive email notifications to inform them of new statements issued for their accounts and successful payments made through the site. e-Tshwane service is not the only billing improvement in Tshwane. Getting municipal statements through the postal address is no longer the only option through which a customer can be invoiced in Tshwane, although it remains the primary option. Customers can now receive their statements through SMS, MMs and email, which can be accessed through various electronic devices such as cell phones, computers and kiosks. All customers who already have municipal accounts will be captured on the system and the preferred option will be used to communicate every month. Customers are allowed to use all the communication options at no cost to them. The City is urging all customers to visit municipal Customer Care walk in centres throughout the Tshwane to submit the necessary information for their preferred communication method or contact the Tshwane call centre on 012 358 9999. A customer needs to submit a cell phone number for the SMS, MMS and E-mail. Benefits of paying via e-Tshwane services You will receive an immediate confirmation of the payment instruction via the service followed by a proof of payment and payment receipt once the payment has been confirmed successful by your bank. This proof of payment is saved in your payment history and is available to you and the municipality to view in the event of any payment related issues/disputes. Payments made via the service are reconciled and allocated against your account, eliminating any possibility of incorrect allocations or lost payments. Payments made via other facilities can take a few days to reflect on your municipal account whereas this delay is removed for payments made via the Tshwane service, eliminating the risk of unwanted actions by the municipality. The Payment Process: Choose the bank account you wish to pay from and instruct the payment. Your account will be debited with the instructed amount and you will receive notification once the payment has been confirmed by your bank. Your payment is allocated to your account and will reflect on your next statement. Payments can be made through instructed debit order. If you are a Standard Bank or Nedbank Customer, you can pay directly from within your Internet Banking. The e-Tshwane service will only accept payments from bank accounts and not credit card facility. While e-Tshwane is a free service, please note your bank will still charge you their normal fee for transactions should you make use of our payment options to pay your municipal accounts Issued by the Communication, Marketing and Events Department.
