UP Govt- Rs. 1.36 crore royalty realized in Durga tenure In Durga Nagpal suspension PIL filed by me, the State government today presented the details of works done by her during her tenure. As per the Affidavit filed by Jay Prakash, Joint Director, Mining Directorate, UP, during Durga’s tenure between 06 September 2012 to 26 July 2013, 64 dumpers were seized, a total royalty of Rs. 1.36 crore was realized, 112 raids were conducted including 5 by the SDM herself, 18 FIRs were registered including two by Durga and 512 carriers were seized. After her transfer only 19 raids were conducted in which 12 FIRs were registered but none of these raids or FIRs was at the level of the SDM. After hearing my counsel Asok Pande, the Bench of Chief Justice Shiva Kirti Singh and Justice D K Upadhyaya seemed completely dissatisfied with the State government’s response and it asked detailed response from the government, It also asked the provisions of law under which the FIRs were registered and what action had been taken so far in these FIRs. The Court enlarged this PIL’s ambit to the larger issue of illegal mining and directed it to be linked it with another PIL pending before the Court.
