UP RISE IN SYNTHETIC MARIJUANA KNOWN AS SERENITY Boyle County, KY- October 09, 2014- Sheriff Marty Elliott reports, the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on Hustonville Rd. in Danville. The driver of the 1998 Crown Victoria was identified as Jaharvas Napier of Boyle County. Deputy K-9 NiKi was deployed indicating on the vehicle. Inside the vehicle were located individually packaged baggies of serenity and digital scales. On his person was also located approximately $800.00 cash. Napier was charged with trafficking/possession of salvia and Drug paraphernalia. Sheriff Marty Elliott also reports on the same date the Drug Task Force after receiving numerous complaints from the public on 402 W. Broadway (the old CAP building) conducted a drug investigation. A traffic stop was conducted from a vehicle leaving the building. Through K-9 indication it was located serenity aka “wren” inside the vehicle. Through the investigation a search warrant was done on 402 W. Broadway apartment #3. Another traffic stop was conducted by the Danville Police Department on another vehicle leaving the area, occupied by the resident of apartment #3, John Ganem of Danville. Ganem was arrested and charged with trafficking in Salvia and carrying concealed deadly weapon. In the recent months the Sheriff’s Office has seen a rise in the amount of synthetic marijuana arrests/charges in Boyle County and surrounding counties. The controlled substance known as serenity is being mixed with dangerous chemicals becoming very volatile even deadly to the person consuming the drug.
