UPDATE - ABDUCTION – POLLOKSHIELDS, GLASGOW Police Scotland today issued a fresh appeal for information following the abduction of a 10 year-old boy in the southside of Glasgow on Wednesday 2 October 2013. Around 1510 hours on Wednesday afternoon, the boy was walking along Kenmuir Street, Pollokshields, near to Albert Drive, Glasgow, when he was approached by a man who pulled him into the back courts of flats. He managed to break free and ran home where after police were called. The suspect is described as possibly South East Asian in appearance, 5 ft 4 to 5 ft 6 in height, 30 to 35 years of age and unshaven. He was wearing dark jogging bottoms, hooded top and a baseball cap. Chief Inspector Hazel Knight, local area commander, said: “We are aware of a number of rumours locally that the boy had been assaulted. This is not the case. Thankfully he was not injured, however, it was very upsetting for him. “Specially trained officers are working with him and his family to get as much information as possible and we must stress that this is an isolated incident. “We are very keen to trace the man and child that the boy said he ran to get help from following the incident, and who challenged the suspect. “This man is described as in his 40’s, with blond hair and was wearing bright yellow shorts and a red and white jacket. He was with a young child who was wearing the school uniform of a local primary school. If you are that man, please come forward as you may be able help officers with their enquiries. “Local primary schools have been visited by officers and letters with advice and guidance have been given to parents and staff. “There are extra officers in the area to provide public reassurance and I would ask that anyone who recognises the description of the man involved or with information they believe may help our enquiry, to speak to them or contact police via the non emergency number 101 or CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
