UPDATE 8-3-14: Well, no one showed up last night, so it was me and Dylan until 1030 this am. I did have to call Gordon down here at 530 this am, because the whole bed was wet and I just couldnt get it made myself. Other than that, I think I did a heck of a job!! I dont ever again want to hear ANYONE say they cant move him or turn him alone, no matter how small, short, fat or broken they are! If I can do it alone, anyone can! Dylan has rested most of the day today, although he did have a couple episodes of the wide-eyed, moaning, and hard breathing. One time was at about 8 this am. I had already gotten an ativan and mixed it with water. When I lifted his gown to get to his tube, I noticed a purple spot on his leg. He had his thumb pressed against his skin and was stiffening with the tone. His thumb nail had made a place on him. After I moved his thumb and gently rubbed that area, he stopped moaning and his breathing slowed. I didnt have to give the Ativan. I am wondering if that is a response to pain now. I am patiently awaiting the arrival of the night nurse and I hope she is good with Dylan because I am about to pass out! She is supposed to be here at 1145.
