UPDATE ..... 8 days to go!! This morning Bella went to the Childrens hospital and had her 22nd and LAST lumbar puncture. She protested while the nurses hooked up her port to the IV lines, but that is normal for her. She was sedated after receiving IV fluids for about 30 minutes. After she is asleep in the procedure room I sneak out as the Doctor injects the chemo into her spine. Bella receives a Triple Intrathecal Therapy Lumbar Puncture where she is given following three meds: Methotrexate (MTX) CHEMO Hydrocortisone (HC) Cytrabine (ARA-C) CHEMO Back in the recovery room. it took her 5 minutes to wake up. The first thing she said Im Hungry but before we can unhook her Port she is also given another Chemo called Vincristine through through the IV lines. On the way home she started to feel nauseous, most likely from the Fentanol that is given before her sleepy medicine. She stayed home from school and ate crackers till she felt better. Bella will start a five day round of steroids. I gave her Prednisone after she had some lunch and I will again after dinner. At bed time she will take her 8th last 6MP chemo pill. That is a whole lot of medicine in one day for a little kid!
