UPDATE: Another of South Bend’s resident peregrine falcons has died. Scarlet was killed in a weekend accident Raptor rehabilitator Carole Riewe tells us the male falcon, Zeus, will have to feed their chicks by himself. Those chicks are flying now, and Riewe says there is a good chance they will survive. In the fall migration, Zeus will look for the third mate in three years. Peregrine falcons normally stay with the same partner for years -- until one of them dies. Scarlet died from a head injury after apparently hitting a piece of equipment at Four Winds Field over the weekend. wsbt/news/local/south-bend-falcon-scarlett-killed-in-weekend-accident/26727298
