#UPDATE: Fire Out of control The Fire Service is throwing everything it has at an out of control bush fire in North Canterbury. Fire fighters arrived at a forest plantation at Pines Beach just after two oclock this afternoon to find it well ablaze, and threatening multiple properties; 40 of which have since been evacuated. Fire Service Shift Manager Riwai Grace says 21 different appliances are working to extinguish the blaze along with two helicopters. Emergency services are asking the public to stare clear of the area for their own safety.
