UPDATE : Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of update, Ive just come back from the packing session! A few things Id like to say : 1) I just turned my phone & computer on after a few hours with no battery, and my mailbox is FLOODED with donations and offers to help. - $43,000 collected in less than 48 hours! - over 550 participants - 1500 members in this group - 18,600 people invited This is UNBELIEVABLE and Im speechless (which doesnt happen often - and the ones who know me can confirm!) in front of this wave of solidarity! Youve shown that we are truly ONE people, all standing behind our soldiers. Am Israel is united and I feel really really really blessed to be part of it! 2) Thanks to your AMAZING participation, weve been able today with the Duvdevan organization and part of the $10,000 that we gave them to buy and pack : - over 400kgs of candies & snacks - over 2000 pairs of socks and boxers - LOADS of hygiene products (I dont have the exact numbers yet) : deodorants, toothpastes, toothbrushes, shampoos, soaps, towels,... There are more pictures to come very soon! Everything will be delivered to the soldiers at the border tomorrow afternoon. Thank you VERY MUCH to all the volunteers who showed up, I was not expecting so many people to come and help! We thought we would be there until early morning and it took us only a few hours to finish everything. As a friend of mine said, we did it the Israeli way : A BIG ORGANIZED BALAGAN!! 3) Im still figuring out whats the best way to spend what weve collected so far and this is what I have in mind for now : - Another donation to the Duvdevan organization, which has proved today its dedication, efficiency and commitment to our soldiers. They are planning to make another collect as early as tomorrow morning (volunteers, be ready to show up!) and Id like to help them more. - A donation to the Golani organization, which has faced lots of losses since the beginning of the war. - A donation to the lonely soldiers (hayalim bodedim) who are leaving their families, friends and comfort to come and fight for OUR country. - A donation to the soldiers who were hurt during the war (and there are many many many of them, some of whom I saw today at the Tel Ha Shomer hospital). - A donation to the families of our fallen heroes. For the three last ones, I havent picked up an organization yet, Im still doing some research on whats the best and most efficient way to donate. Ill obviously keep you updated. 4) I spoke to a friend tonight, the most amazing and zionist girl Ive ever met, who is an officer in a fighting unit currently doing some operations in Gaza. She - personally & on behalf of all her soldiers - wanted to thank you ALL for what youve accomplished. She told me that your solidarity and generosity is truly warming their hearts and sending them lots of positive vibes which keep reminding them what theyre fighting for! 5) Im doing my best to answer all of your messages but finding it hard to keep up with the pace. So please check our updates on the group, every need for volunteers will be posted here! Were almost half way through our $100,000 goal and I have no doubt we can reach it! Do continue to spread the word, it has proved to be a very good strategy so far!! Im very very very touched by your commitment and have no words to express how grateful I am to you all. This initiative started as a small collect from friends and with YOUR HELP were turning this into a BIG thing that can really make a difference. MERCI, THANKS & TODA!!! Alex
