UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Dr. Au. Bourbon is still under sedation after his CT scan and they were able to find the problem. The deep rooted infection is actually in the ear canal. It appears, that even though we resolved Bourbons ear infection immediately when he came into the program several months ago, this was something that he had dealt with his whole life and his ear canal has calcified and the infection is deep in the bones surrounding it. The only way to fix this is through an ear ablation. If we do not fix it, then Bourbon has no quality of life....and I wont allow him to live that way, its just unfair....and he deserves much much more. There are of course risks to the surgery, such as facial paralysis. This is a very expensive surgery and not something we were anticipating. Because he is a bulldog and they have issues with anesthesia, it is best if we go ahead and do the surgery right now, versus pulling him out of anesthesia, waiting to do the surgery once we raise the money, and putting him under anesthesia again, really isnt the safest alternative and I want to do what is the safest. I have to say that I am at odds here.....Rain needs heart surgery in two weeks, another expensive surgery which we were going to fundraise for and there is nothing I hate worse than asking for money....okay, so I hate asking for money twice in a row, worse than I hate asking for money once. I dont want to have to choose. I want to give them both what they deserve. So, Im going to try. Im going to create a you caring fundraiser for Bourbon ASAP....and then you guys will just have to bear with me in a few days when I have to do the same for Rain. I just cant say dont do it, knowing its his only chance. I love this guy. I think you have all grown to love this guy with me, so please, when you see the fundraising post go up....share it and remember that $1 counts. Ive said it time after time, we now have over 26,000 fans, if every fan donated $1....we could save A LOT of Rains and Bourbons in this world!!!!!
