*UPDATE ON MARTIN* Just got the go ahead from Marty to post this update. I havent wanted to all day & realized it hasnt been fair of me to avoid this update, as the entire point of it is, to inform our friends in family of his status at present so those of us can say & do what is important. *DISCLAIMER* THE FOREGOING IS STRICTLY FROM MARTIN HIMSELF AS WELL AS THE CARDIOLOGIST & HIS MEDICAL TEAM ONLY, AND I AM CONVEYING THE INFORMATION TO YOU. Martin is in the end & final stage of heart failure. His heart was functioning at between 40-45% and after the Cardiologist assessed his most recent imaging, his heart in now functioning at 20% and declining. The Drs had him go in for his 1st of 2 Stress Tests, the 2nd one will be tomorrow. The results will be compared to analyze exactly what he will be able to endure surgical wise & whether or not surgery is an option. Theyve not changed any of his medications around to date & that is one option, but will not make the impact necessary to sustain functioning of his heart; hence, the team still conferring on what exactly the secondary course of action will be. The level his heart is functioning on, is what is contributing to his other symptoms as theyve done almost every test on/in all other areas of/in his body so far and have ruled out most other possibilities thought to be causing all of the symptoms. The decline in heart function is causing his body to shutdown & organs starting to shutdown; hence is inability to breathe, body swelling/fluid retention and the list if other issues hes been experiencing which according to Martin & Drs are getting worse. Martin is aware of the severity of his condition & has told me hes made his arrangements and informed his eldest son of them in case the worst does happen. ~End of verbatim update~ What I have to say next is MY message based SOLEY on the aforementioned & on my talks with Marty, and I pray to God it turns out what I say next turns out that he pulls through, but Ive experienced not being able to see loved ones a last time etc & I wish I could had that chance so, here goes: Now is the time to maybe write what you want or need to to Martin, or give him a call to remind him of what hes meant to you & why. If theres anyone out there that has any bad blood or things you arent proud of or may regret between you & Marty, make your ammends and dont let the mistake in not doing so, be a tie that binds you when its too late. If anyone is in the financial position &/or has the means & ability to travel to see him & sit for a while with him, now is that time to make it happen. Lastly, obviously I pray to God he gets out of the hospital after a successful, helpful surgery or some treatment that makes him well & I can go kick his ass after. I love my best friend so much. He always has & still tries to do so much for people & he needs all of us to stand together for him & support him in any way we have.
