UPDATE ON MAX: On Sunday Max was examined by specialist Dr. Wilson. Max has improved. One week ago his White ell count was at 40,000 ( yes 40 K). Yesterday the level was normal. The Dr. explained that when Maxs leg was broken as a pup and an infection had set in eating away over 1/2, it effected his knee joint which is and has been out of wack. He stated that he will have problems in the future with th limping and restricted use. He advised to monitor him for the next 3 week an make a decision regarding an operation to correct the knee. My concern is problems due to the earlier break, scar tissue, will there be additional restriction after this operation heals with additional scar tissue which would lead to the loss of his leg. My feeling at this time is, if he has a limp, so what, so do I.....so long as he is not in pain. Additionally with the White cell count at 40K, (indicating infection) it is just a reasonable assumption that the infection is in the leg. So time will tell. I WILL do what is necessary if this all becomes painful.
