UPDATE ON RON, THE MICHIGAN VETERAN BIKER WITH A FLAT ON OHIO TURNPIKE: An incredibly touching story We are so thankful to EVERYONE that made a good effort to help Ron with his problem out on there on the toll road: whether it was sharing the post or calling Ron to ask if he got help. A good Samaritan named Rick Lawrence just called to let us know the tire is fixed. Rick got a call from a friend who saw the call for help on our page from her home in Washington State, one of our readers named Heidi, who told him about Rons problem on his way to DC. Rick was sitting in the hospital with his wife. Rick and his wife are both veterans like the stranded biker was, he told me she had been in the first war in Iraq. They were both in a bike accident in Ohio in June. Ricks wife is still critical in the hospital but something told Rick he should help so he got the things together and gassed up and drove about 70 miles to help him out with an S-jack and patches. Rick pulled into the truck stop and when he pulled in so did a tire repair rig. Rick flagged the driver down and the driver had all the tools that they needed. Gods perfect timing! They got the job done in the pouring down rain, Rick is soaked! He is now sitting in his truck, making sure the patch holds before he takes off to go back to his home. The goodness of Veterans and bikers and is AMAZING. (If you good folks would, please pray for Ricks wife Barbara as she is still hospitalized with extensive brain injuries and complications from an infection that went untreated for 3 weeks.) When I talked to Rick, he said that Ron is in the truckers lounge right now, waiting out the storm hoping to get a nap before he continues on to Washington, DC. GOD BLESS ALL who helped, especially Rick, and also the unknown man on the tire repair rig and everyone else who tried to help, and to that end, we want to mention several people here: Dave, from Pennsylvania who did all he could to get help making countless phone calls for and to Ron as well as the reader named Heidi in Washington State who called Rick because she knew he lived in Ohio. Rick said they both belong to a group on FB called THE BIKERS CODE. It isnt a motorcycle club, they are a group that is for bikers and by bikers. They help each other out and live by the biker code. Rick is an amazing man. He is fighting a hard battle right now and leaving the hospital to take the time to help Ron with this is just incredible. https://facebook/TheBikersCode?fref=ts We are ALWAYS amazed at the helpfulness and willingness of all pf to come through in a situation like this. This group also offered help and is a biker assistance group. russbrown/what-is-bam.html
