UPDATE ON THIS ANGEL: Mary says: Upon examination by my team of skilled and trusted veterinarians, it was discovered that this sweet girls injuries were even more severe than I had feared. Both of her front feet were beyond saving and would require amputation, both of her rear feet would require at least partial amputation. Her poor broken body was wracked by infection. Her prognosis for recovery and any quality of life was hopeless, even with the most heroic of surgical and rehab interventions. I, with the vets concurrence, made the decision to have her humanely euthanized to stop the constant agony that she was suffering. Had there been any hope for recovery and a quality life for this girl, I would have moved Heaven and Earth to make it happen. Such was not the case. I alone made the decision to end her suffering - any judgment and second-guessing should be directed at me. I apologize to those of you who were offended by the graphic photo - My original post was an emotionally motivated call to awareness and a condemnation of uncaring humans, it was never an express or implied plea for donations. It was, perhaps, an opportunity for a rare insight into the emotional burden we rescuers are under - day in and day out. We chose to walk this path but even our strength is tested on such days. I am, however, grateful for the outpouring of support. I thank each of you for your prayers and offers of donations. I am affected more than usual by this sweet girls plight. Forgive me if I take a haitus from the facebook circus. There are over 400 other animals who rely on me for their care and I must focus on the care of the living knowing that I have done everything possible for those that I have lost
