UPDATE TRIBAL PROGRESS: REINTRODUCED some culture of who we are back to council as in putting the council BACK in a circle and amongst the people instead of above them. The invocation is in our language telling the ancestors the creator has made us all equal and to help us with the sickness of European influences that have devided our people. The drum is finally able to be heard in council again. Roberts Rules of order have been minimized in an attempt to indigenize the council to try an remind the people who forgot who they are and where they came from. Brought back the old way of Ogimaa instead of the European titles Increased the tribal elder stipend from 225$ to 300$ to assist our elders on fixed incomes ALWAYS ELDERS FIRST! We are actively moving forward, so please be patient as some changes will be seen immediately as others will take time. Remember it took years for past councils to get us where we were at in the beginning of the year, this moving forward council, with YOUR HELP has taken active steps, to attempt to improve our economic and social structure as YOU see fit. This govt is your govt so just think of where we were 11 months ago and imagine where we could be 11 months from now with YOUR continued input in YOUR govt. Please AHO MIGWECH! PLEASE SHARE
