UPDATE: The LaPorte County Coroner says Assistant Fire Chief Jamie Middlebrook died from blunt force trauma and a broken neck from the weight of a roof collapse while he battled a massive blaze in New Carlisle last night. Middlebrooks autopsy was performed in Lafayette and his body is now being transported back to a funeral home on Bendix Drive in South Bend by a police and fire department escort.
