UPDATE: Todays lead proved to be premature apartmentalation: Tomorrows another day. =D County/In Brief January 7, 2015 The Maui News Save | Post a comment | Fire damages Lahaina home A blaze that inflicted $440,000 in damage to a Lahaina residence Friday afternoon has been classified as accidental, according to Maui Fire Department Capt. Paul Haake. No injuries were reported. Lahaina and Napili firefighters responded to a 4:33 p.m. alarm at 853 Laalo St., Haake said. At the scene, fire crews found a 2,200-square-foot home on fire, with the blaze contained to the main portion of a home with six separate tenants. Police evacuated a tenant who was home when the fire broke out, although that resident was in a separate part of the structure, he said. Fire damage was extensive, Haake said. He estimated $340,000 in damage to the structure and $100,000 to its contents. The Red Cross and friends of residents helped find housing for those displaced by the fire.
