UPDATE: Trinidad Muslims held in Venezuela -by Nafeesa Mohammed Salaams everyone! The Law Firm of Tamayo and Tamayo was eventually retained on behalf of the 2 Imams and Brother Abdul Salaam of Marabella. As we all know, they successfully secured the release of these brothers together with Brother Imran Bacchus who is a Guyanese living in Caracas. Since then, the other 5 brothers namely: Ismael ( Wade Charles); Asim Luqman; Jamal Pitilal; Asims Uncle Andre Battersby and Lesley Daisley continue to be incarcerated in Caracas. Their Lawyer is the same Lawyer who was involved from the beginning! Yesterday, he was able to present some additional information to the Authorities and is awaiting some feedback. The Tribunals next date of hearing is the 9th June 2014. By next week, it should be much clearer as to what the next steps should be. What is very clear is that a grave injustice continues to be inflicted on our Muslim Brothers and the State needs to intensify its efforts to remedy this atrocious situation. Our Nationals are being detained in a foreign country and given the roles and functions of our Foreign Affairs Ministry and the National Security Ministry, they need to coordinate and intensify their efforts unless of course, ????????
