UPDATE : *** WHO DO WE BLAME? *** I keep wondering how players still fail prey to clubs in this era of our football, where enlightment is going on daily and information can easily be acessed everywhere, even on ones bed. I know a player contract documents is suppose to be in quartet form, which mean ; 1. The player or management keeps a copy. 2. The country football federation keeps a copy. 3. The league board or the body saddle with the responsibility of running the league. 4. The club also keeps a copy From research its observed that players and clubs are forbidden from using the services of a non-licence players agent but the law do not apply if the person acting on behalf of the player is a parent, a sibling or the spouse of the player in question or if the agent acting on behalf of the player is legally authorised to practise as a lawyer in compliance with the rules in his country of domicile. Now with all these stated above in which a player has been guided by rules on what to do in dealing with a club that is in need of his service why then do we still have players playing for a club without duly signed document and why is it also that the country football federation and the league board always turn blind eyes, instead of asking clubs to submit the players contract documents which they are suppose to file in their secretariat for future use. Further more the rules and regulation of the league board in article 1.4(4) vii stated that, Signed copy of each player’s and official’s contracts with club should be submitted to the league board. With all these, why is it that clubs still cheat players and the league board will just look on without asking clubs to submit such document before the kick off of the league , is it that they are conniving with clubs to dupe players or is it that the players themselves are so naïve in allowing clubs to cheat or dupe them because of ignorance. It grieves me to still see players been sacked by clubs without a dime been paid in form of any compensation to the player, though most of this players because of the love and passion they have for the game, makes it look as if they are begging the clubs to play for them instead of seeing themselves as rendering a service to the club and which the service must be paid for at the players terms. I just hope things get better and players and clubs will know their individual responsibilities and right. A lot was said before the start of the season by the league organisers and the football federation but it all seems like paying lips service, things are still the same way they are when the club owners where in charge of running the league.
