UPDATE on our furnace: A bearing on the blower motor went bad. The insulation inside the blower was burning, causing the burning plastic smell. So glad the safety feature kicked in and didnt allow the furnace to keep running! Motor is replaced and house temp is climbing back up. Crossing fingers that does the trick. This is NOT the day to have no heat in your house. THANK YOU to everyone who expressed concern and sent supportive messages!!
