UPDATED INFORMATION ON THE WOOKIE CASE: Wookie’s owner has been identified as Oliver Rivera, a resident of Greenpoint in Brooklyn. Rivera and Wookie were reunited today and Rivera says he is the luckiest human being alive right now. Rivera was interviewed by WABC NY and explained that Wookie was being walked by a friend, wiggled out of his harness, and ran off. Rivera took all all the appropriate steps to find Wookie and was thrilled to be reunited. A good Samaritan delivered the dog to Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn where he is currently being treated. Wookie fell 30 feet from an elevated section of Brooklyn Queen Expressway last night, Tuesday, around 6:30 pm. Wookie landed on his back and doctors say he was lucky to survive. He was originally called Meeker since he fell onto Meeker Ave. Authorities are still trying to determine if he was thrown off the BQE or fell off.
