According to Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge, several 911 calls were made around 2 a.m. Tuesday regarding a possible homicide. The Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated to investigate. Donald Clinton Black, 49, was found dead in the 2000 block of Montelius Street. An exact cause of death has not been released nor has information about a murder weapon. The home and surrounding property has been roped off by authorities with a patrol car sitting in front of the home to keep the public out. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Major Crime Team was seeking Zachary Nathaniel Craig as a person of interest. He is a 6 foot 2 inch tall, 180 pound white male with black hair and blue eyes. According to Patridge, Craig has an outstanding arrest warrant from a 2014 hit and run incident. The public should not approach him, and anyone who spots him should call 911. “We’re still pursuing all angles on motive,” Patridge confirmed, while refusing to comment on specifics of the case. “At this point we still have people at large related to this.” The authorities also are seeking information about a vehicle possibly connected to the murder. Patridge said a white vehicle, unknown make and model, may have left the Montelius Street area shortly after 2 a.m. In addition to calling 911, the public can contact the Klamath Falls Police Department at 541-883-5336. The KFPD maintains an anonymous tip line at 541-883-5334. The Klamath County Major Crime Team is activated to investigate homicides, large scale arson cases and other incidents throughout the county. Member agencies include the DA’s Office, KFPD, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath County Community Corrections and the Oregon State Police. thiegler@heraldandnews; @HieglerHN
